Tamara J. Cadet, an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR). Cadet’s research focuses on addressing health disparities and promoting health equity among underserved populations, particularly in the areas of HIV/AIDS and aging.
Cadet’s work emphasizes the importance of community-based participatory research and the inclusion of diverse voices in the research process. By engaging with community members and stakeholders, she aims to develop culturally sensitive interventions and policies that can effectively address the unique health challenges faced by marginalized communities.
As a member of the SSWR board, Cadet will have the opportunity to further advance her research agenda and collaborate with other leading social work researchers to promote social justice and health equity. Her expertise in community-based research and her commitment to addressing health disparities make her a valuable addition to the organization.
Cadet’s election to the SSWR board highlights the critical role that social work research plays in identifying and addressing the social determinants of health. By focusing on the complex interplay between individual, community, and societal factors, social work researchers like Cadet are working to develop innovative solutions to some of the most pressing health challenges facing underserved populations today.
