Dr. Jamie L. Studts, a Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is making significant strides in addressing health disparities, particularly in lung cancer prevention and treatment. As a licensed clinical health psychologist, Dr. Studts focuses on the behavioral aspects of tobacco-related malignancies, developing interventions to promote informed decision-making and behavior change among patients and clinicians.
His research, funded by various national institutes and foundations, aims to improve prevention, screening, and survivorship of lung and head/neck cancer. Dr. Studts leads the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative and has served on the Institute of Medicine National Cancer Policy Forum addressing lung cancer screening implementation.
As Chair of the American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable’s Survivorship, Stigma, and Nihilism Task Group, Dr. Studts is actively working to reduce the burden of lung cancer. His efforts in Kentucky were recognized with the Centerstone Healthcare Advocacy award.
Dr. Studts’ multifaceted approach, combining behavioral science with oncology, demonstrates a commitment to addressing the complex factors contributing to health disparities in lung cancer care and prevention.
