Bank of American awards $80K grant to enhance health services for Latino families in Oklahoma

The Latino Community Development Agency (LCDA) in Oklahoma has received an $80,000 grant from Bank of America to enhance health services for Latino families. The grant will be used to improve access to vital health programs, including prenatal care, mental health services, and chronic disease management. Rita Aragon, executive director of LCDA, stated that the funding will help address healthcare disparities faced by low-income Latino families, focusing on overcoming barriers such as limited access to quality care and language services. This initiative aims to create healthier outcomes for underserved communities in the region.

The grant is a critical part of Bank of America’s efforts to invest in communities of color, ensuring that families, particularly those within the Latino community, have access to life-saving health services. LCDA’s comprehensive health services are geared toward filling gaps in care, and the financial support from Bank of America allows the organization to expand its outreach and impact in addressing health disparities.

Aragon noted that the funding will assist in expanding LCDA’s prenatal services, which are particularly needed among women who face barriers due to language or financial constraints. Mental health support and management of chronic illnesses like diabetes and hypertension will also be priorities. By providing these essential services, the initiative seeks to empower Latino families and reduce the long-standing healthcare inequalities that many face.

The partnership between Bank of America and LCDA exemplifies how community-driven efforts, backed by significant funding, can tackle deep-rooted racial and ethnic health disparities, particularly in underserved populations.
