A coalition of civil rights organizations recently released Medicaid coverage scorecards, revealing that over 20 state governors have failed to ensure proper healthcare access for their residents. The NAACP, National Action Network, and the National Urban League are among the organizations calling for ethical and efficient administrative practices to ensure equitable healthcare access.
They highlight the alarming rate at which Black people and other communities of color are being disenrolled from Medicaid coverage. The scorecards, a tool to hold lawmakers accountable, urge all states to act urgently to prevent healthcare gaps. This initiative follows the release of a joint report detailing the ongoing civil rights and health equity disaster following the end of pandemic-era Medicaid continuous eligibility requirements.
